Transfer & Military Credit

Maximize Your Credits

At TCU, we recognize that your military training, prior coursework, and life experience represent significant learning. Our goal is to help you maximize transfer and military credit so you can move efficiently toward your degree and make the most of your time and VA benefits.

Your military experience may translate into academic credit at TCU. TCU evaluates military credit using national guidelines and institutional standards to determine how it may apply toward your degree.

What May Count:

  • Military training (Joint Services Transcript – JST)
  • Technical schools and occupational specialties (MOS/AFSC/NEC/SFSC ratings)
  • Leadership and professional development courses
  • Basic Training can be applied for 4 PE elective credits via your DD214

How to Get Started:

  • Request your Joint Services Transcript (JST) and DD214
  • Submit it to TCU Admissions
  • Work with your academic advisor to apply credits toward your degree plan

If you’ve taken college courses at another institution, TCU will evaluate those credits for transfer.

What Transfers:

  • Credits from regionally accredited institutions
  • Courses with grades that meet TCU transfer standards
  • Applicable coursework aligned with your degree requirements
